Financial Controller

Position Objective:

This position requires knowledge, experience, and expertise in cost and inventory control. The Financial Controller will ensure that the operations staff understand the plant’s financial objectives, as well as ensure all accounting controls are maintained. Critical for success are the abilities to provide leadership, and structure, enhance customer service, and drive change across the organization.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Ensure that financial reporting is accurate, timely and complies with the company’s accounting guidelines and procedures
  • Maintain a 13-week cash flow analysis
  • Record production to analyze actual manufacturing costs
  • Prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Process Biweekly in Ceridian including T4’s and ROE’s
  • Reconcile all bank accounts and credit cards
  • Reconcile all applicable general ledger accounts within the required timeframe to evaluate and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger
  • Responsible for accurate recording of manufacturing and overhead costs
  • Prepare and distribute periodic reports to management: scrap, inventory, production, spending, and labor utilization
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries, month-end accruals and Profit & Loss Statement (P&L) and Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Work closely with the operations team providing meaningful insight and analysis of key drivers of performance.
  • Support manufacturing with product and inventory cost creation and variance analysis, identifying negative trends and recommending the proper corrective actions.
  • Monitor the cycle count program investigating large variances and lead the year-end physical.
  • Assist in the preparation of capital expenditure proposals.
  • Maintain a Fixed Asset System for the location
  • Support the development of the annual budget including the plant Profit & Loss Statement (P&L) and Balance Sheet

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 Years of Manufacturing cost experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Management
  • Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data required
  • Familiarity with General Accounting (A/P, Payroll, General Ledger)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Cost analysis in a manufacturing/machining environment (desired)
  • Experience in standard cost systems (desired)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (desired)
