Your Opportunity with PDC:
PDC is currently looking for a CNC Machinist to join the team. As a CNC Machinist, you will play an important role in producing high-quality parts using CNC equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and other related machinery working from blueprints, company plans, and technical drawings. You will also help identify equipment issues or machining variances and make adjustments within your scope to support safe, efficient, and accurate production, while reporting any concerns to your supervisor. This role also involves operating lifting devices as part of your daily responsibilities and is considered safety sensitive.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Produce high-quality parts on CNC machines under the direction of the Machine Shop Foreman.
- Load parts, prove programs, operate controls, set offsets, make simple edits, deburr parts, and inspect finished workpieces to ensure they meet quality and conformance requirements.
- Study and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, the sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces to support accurate machining.
- Identify equipment malfunctions or machining variances and make adjustments within your scope to maintain quality production; report any machine issues to your leader.
- Communicate with your leader to troubleshoot machining or quality concerns.
- Safely operate lifting devices to move materials and finished parts.
- Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and maintained, including performing basic preventative maintenance.
- Verify product dimensions and specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools, including CNC equipment, to perform precision machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, drilling, and grinding.
- Complete required internal documentation accurately and on time.
- Support smooth shift transitions by documenting actions taken, noting irregularities, and communicating ongoing needs.
- Attend and participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other scheduled team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- Journeyperson CNC Machinist certification is required; Red Seal certification is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience operating CNC machines, including lathes and milling machines, in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Experience with conversational programming or G-code is an asset, along with the ability to edit existing programs and test new ones.
- Familiarity with Mastercam, SolidWorks, and machine controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, and Mazatrol.
- Excellent knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
- Solid understanding of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other machining accessories.
- Excellent knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments, including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales.
- Ability to safely operate lifting devices to move materials and parts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and isolate equipment issues or machining irregularities.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to producing quality work.
- A strong work ethic and a positive, team-focused attitude.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities, delays, and unexpected challenges.
Shift:
Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m.–2:30 a.m.
