Simulation and Testing

Ensuring our products will work as intended – and responding to what the tool tells us when we try it out – are further key steps in PDC’s product development. We employ computational fluid dynamics to simulate the flow of fluid while using the tool, and finite element analysis to ensure designs are strong and won’t fail under intended application. Our live testing capability covers sizes from 3” to 36”, with simulation software covering larger sizes.

Once we have completed dull-run analysis and believe we have a sound design, we build a prototype for field-testing. In all cases, a customer will try out the tool on an actual job. The feedback we gain in these real-world conditions is critical to improving and optimizing the design – as well as to conceiving follow-on models with different capacities or applications.

The overall research-design-engineering-simulation-testing process is a continuous, dynamic one as we review technical information and physical properties of the tools after use, and incorporate the new information, creating a feedback loop of continuous improvement.
